More than feathers!

08 Jan

How fun!

I just happened to be looking through my work for 2011…

And I was so pleased to see that Sweetbird friends come in all shapes, sizes, colors, feathers, and fur!

Charity Challenge Contest Winner

08 Jan

A few months ago, Sweetbird donated a 1hour photo session to a Charity Auction to benefit the Oregon Humane Society. I am proud to say that our donation alone raised over $200! And now I’d like to present you the winner, her bestie, and their furry friend Layla. The session took place on a damp day at Mt. Tabor park, but as you can see… we didn’t let anything dampen our spirits!

Just Breathe

01 Nov

I recently found a new love in my life – yoga.

I swear by it! It cures WHATEVER ails ya!

Yoga is multifaceted and has many paths, but most yoga practiced here in the west is the physical kind of practice. Whether it be a Hatha, Bikram, or Vinyasa style class, you will bend and shape your body into various poses or postures called asanas. In Vinyasa, you link breath with movement, and in a Hatha class you will hold each pose for several breaths. In Bikram, you will sweat. A lot. Whatever type of yoga you practice, you will become stronger, increase your flexibility, bring self awareness into your body and improve your ability to accept yourself as well as others.

I love this new passion so much, I recently completed a 200hr training session and received my certification to teach! So if yoga is something you want to try out, or even if you already share my passion for it, give me a call and we’ll practice together!

the sweetest years

21 Oct

Can you believe it has been a whole year since the last time we saw these little turkeys?

How quickly the time passes! It seems like one moment you are holding your brand new hatchling in your arms and the next moment you are walking little turkeys like these off to school. And then one day your hatchling is all grown and will want to spread their wings and fly and I promise, you will wonder where the time went. I know what you’re thinking… you’ll never forget any of those wonderful details; those tiny expressions and intimate moments from their earliest years. But believe me, without photographs in our lives, those details will become fuzzy over time. We are constantly building new memories on top of our older ones, pushing these early years deeper and deeper into our memory banks. And when our precious ducklings are growing every single day right before our eyes, it is hard to see the change happening and to know exactly what details to capture in our memories forever. Over time chubby little cheeks thin out into beautiful young faces, little dimples in the hands and elbows disappear into long lanky limbs, even grumpy little faces turn into silly grins and flirty glances. Hiring a professional photographer to document those precious early years ensures every detail of those sweet, but fleeting moments of time in our lives stay fresh and crisp in our minds forever.

Stay tuned for details on a new special for families, our “Sweetest Years” offer.

Sweet Weddings

21 Oct

Weddings are a time for families to flock together. This wedding in particular was a real treat to photograph, as these two are very close friends of mine. The ceremony took place at Lake Merwin in Washington and although it had rained a little that morning, we didn’t let it ruffle our feathers. Things dried up pretty quickly and the sun peeked it’s face out just in time for their first kiss as a married couple! So amazing!!

Thank you Herbie & Danielle for allowing me to capture all of the special moments of your big day!

Meet Stitchy!

21 Jun

Just look at this little guy! Stitch is such a handsome fellow, and he knows it. He is not ashamed to strut his stuff around the yard and to flaunt his many assets, such as having the ability to taste what a flower smells like, or the ability to balance that enormous head directly over his little body while standing on only two legs. And while Stitch is a rough and tough frenchie of many talents who does all of his own stunts, he also has a ”softer” side (see below). You see, Stitch here has a big heart and he believes in being ready to lick anything at a moment’s notice (mostly he just licks himself though).
